The Hungry Architect & Dibspace

Thanks for clicking on the URL in my Dibspace profile. Here’s a little something about who I am and what I do.

My name is Rick Anderson and I’m the guy behind The Hungry Architect blog - although Laura does a lot of the research for it.

Dibspace is a new Seattle based online bartering system. “It’s like bartering but 1.5 billion times better. Dibspace is designed to help small businesses thrive, even in this economy.” I discovered them through a Twitter posting.
It turns out that there are a lot of things that I need that I’m just not willing to spend cash on at the moment. However, I’d be delighted to exchage services for them. I’ve decided to offer my sevices on Dibspace in exchange for services that are offered there.

I’m 49 year old native Seattleite (I was a “Patches Pal” and can still sing the theme song to “Wanda Wanda“). Laura and I have been together for nearly 16 years. We have 4 wonderful daughters; two attend Western Washington University, one attends The Evergreen State College and the baby is a Junior at Meadowdale High School.

My Work

I’m an architect, working out of my home in Edmonds. I’ve been in the business for over 25 years and been a registered architect since 1993. My practice consists primarily of designing homes for individual homeowners, builders and developers.

The Hungry Architect Blog

The Hungry Architect blog is about designing single family homes in the Pacific Northwest. It is intended to provide ideas, resources and expertise to folks considering designing a new home or remodeling their current home. Somewhere along the line, after doing this for over 25 years I decided I had ideas worth sharing and opinions worth expressing. So that’s what I do. Here you’ll find articles written by me and links to websites and resources that I think are valuable. I hope you find it useful.

The Hungry Architect Website

www.hungryarchitect.com is my website. There you’ll find examples of my work, driving tours of homes we’ve designed in the Puget Sound area, and a detailed description of my services and fees. Some of the multi-part articles that I’ve written on the blog have been reformatted into a single cohesive article and located on my website as well. Those articles are also available for download in PDF format. Some of those articles have accompanying worksheets that are also available in PDF versions.

Ask The Architect

This is a feature of both my blog and my website. If you have any questions concerning residential design in the Pacific Northwest feel free to ask it here. Seriously, I love to answer questions, so fire away. No salesman will call.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you’ll find my tweets, blog and website useful.
